Banksy is the world-famous street artist whose stencil graffiti work is marked by a caustic sense of humour which he uses to comment on the bleak dream-killer that is modern life. He was born in 1974 in the Bristol area, and although his pieces now sell at top international art galleries, he has never revealed his identity, sticking to the anonymity which has always protected him in the clandestine world of street art.
